Since his early days as a guitar player in various Massachusetts punk rock and hardcore bands it is obvious that James Carroll is not one for stagnation. Well known through the works of such bands as Clouds, the Suicide File, The Hope Conspiracy, and Pure Love, Carroll has 25 years of experience as a songwriter and touring musician. Beyond the traditional band setting he has also established himself as a composer working with various brands such as the North Face, Swatch and Relentless Energy drinks.

Based in Brooklyn, NY for the last 11 years Carroll splits time between the groups American Nightmare and Spiral Heads as well as a diverse body of ambient and compositional work. Not limited by genre, he gathers inspiration from all musical depths, currently focused on creating meditation works inspired by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. Through the use of guitars, piano, loops and synthesizers he creates swirling and spacious soundscapes, some of which he accompanies with visual art of his own making.
